Why Rolacase fits the Ford Ranger
The Ford Ranger has taken over as Australia's top-selling ute, and for good reason. Dual-cab capability, towing grunt, and a tub that actually holds a day's worth of trade gear. But a stock Ranger tub is exactly that — a tub. To turn it into a real working fitout, you need a canopy plus the right storage system underneath it.
Rolacase canopy kits are designed around standard Australian ute tub dimensions, which means they fit the Ranger cleanly without custom fabrication. The Next Gen Ranger PX4 (2022 onwards) has a tub roughly 1,544mm long, 1,584mm wide at the outer edge, and 539mm deep. Our dual-cab-sized canopy shelving kits are engineered to slot inside that space with room for the drawer base, shelving runs, and standard canopy framing. Earlier Ranger generations (PX, PX2, PX3) have very similar tub dimensions, so the same kits fit those too.
Our products are universal-fit, not Ranger-specific. That is actually a strength because the same kit works across your Ranger, Hilux, D-Max, or Triton fleet without needing different stock for different utes. But it means this page talks about configurations that work well in a Ranger, not parts machined only for a Ranger. If you want dynamic tray-specific mounting brackets, those come from the canopy manufacturer, not from us. We handle everything inside the canopy.

Measured against the Next Gen Ranger PX4 dual-cab. Earlier Ranger generations are within 10-20mm on every dimension, so the same Rolacase kits fit.
Full fitout components
A complete Ford Ranger canopy fitout typically combines four elements. Each one does a specific job and the combination is where the real value sits.
- Canopy shelving — open or enclosed shelves mount to the canopy walls and ceiling, using vertical space that would otherwise be wasted. Browse the shelving range.
- Metal drawers — sit on the tub floor or a raised platform, full-extension slides let you reach the back of a 1.5-metre tub without climbing in.
- Vehicle flooring — protects the tub surface, stabilises the fitout, keeps moisture off tools.
- Part organisers & accessories — RolaCase part cases, first aid kits, bin dividers, cable-tie rails — everything clicks into the same modular system.
Ranger-specific considerations
A few things worth knowing when you plan your Ranger canopy setup. Small details up front save rework later.
Tailgate clearance
The Next Gen Ranger tailgate sits flush with the tub floor when open. If you fit a drawer system that extends to the tailgate, factor in the drawer-slide length plus tailgate swing. Most Rolacase drawer bases leave 80–120mm of clearance on a standard Ranger tub.
Tie-down points
Ranger factory tie-down hooks at the four tub corners are fine for loose gear, not the storage system. Canopy shelving and drawer units mount directly to the canopy frame and tub floor using supplied hardware. Factory hooks stay free for cargo nets or ratchet straps.
Wheel-arch intrusion
Inner width between Ranger wheel arches is approximately 1,171mm, standard across dual-cab utes. All Rolacase base units fit within this without modification. Full-width drawer kits check against the 1,171mm gap.
Payload margin
Ranger payload sits between 870kg and 1,018kg depending on variant. A fully loaded canopy fitout with drawers, shelving, tools, and consumables typically weighs 180–280kg. Plenty of margin for the rest of your day's load. Check your payload tag on the door jamb if you run heavy.
Canopy brand compatibility
Rolacase storage works with all common Australian canopy brands — ARB, MSA 4X4, NoBeltSafe, Trayon, and most aluminium and composite canopies. Requirement is a flat internal floor and standard wall-mount provisions, the default for major brands.
Lock & security
Rolacase drawer systems include optional key-lockable sections and our cabinet kits come with built-in locks. Two security layers — locked canopy + locked drawer — stop opportunistic and overnight theft.

How to order your Ranger fitout
The quickest way to get a quote is the Vehicle Configurator. Select Ford Ranger, your model year, and canopy type, and the system shortlists the kits that fit. From there add drawers, dividers, and accessories before requesting a quote.
For non-standard Ranger setups — extended cab, tray-style canopies, or anything with specific compliance requirements — send us the vehicle details and a photo of the tub, and we'll put together a custom recommendation. Our team has been fitting Rolacase systems into Australian utes since 1982, so there are not many combinations we haven't seen.
Typical lead time is three to five business days for in-stock kits, shipped Australia-wide. Custom builds take two to three weeks. Installation is DIY-friendly for anyone comfortable with basic hand tools, or we arrange on-site fitting through our authorised fitter network in every major Australian city. Frequently asked questions
Which Ford Ranger generations fit Rolacase canopy systems?
Rolacase canopy kits fit every dual-cab Ford Ranger from PX (2011) through PX2, PX3, and the Next Gen PX4 (2022 onwards). Tub dimensions across these generations are nearly identical, so the same canopy shelving and drawer kits work across all of them. Single-cab and super-cab Rangers also fit, though available depth is shorter and the drawer-base size adjusts accordingly.
What is the total weight of a fully kitted Ranger canopy setup?
A full fitout including a 2-drawer base, dual-level shelving, vehicle flooring, and small-parts organisers typically weighs 180–280kg empty. Ranger payload ranges from 870kg to 1,018kg depending on variant, so a typical fitout leaves plenty of payload for tools, stock, and passengers. Check your specific Ranger's payload tag on the door jamb if you run at the heavy end.
How long does a Ford Ranger canopy fitout take to install?
Installation takes three to five hours for a standard electrician or plumber setup, done with basic hand tools. Kits come partially pre-assembled with mounting hardware included, and step-by-step installation videos are on the resources section. Our authorised fitter network covers every major Australian capital if you'd prefer a professional install, typically completed in half a day.
Does Rolacase work with canopy brands like ARB, MSA 4X4, and Trayon?
Yes. Rolacase storage systems work with all common Australian canopy brands including ARB, MSA 4X4, NoBeltSafe, Trayon, and most aluminium and composite canopies. The only requirement is a flat internal floor and standard wall-mounting provisions, default for all major brands. For custom or fibreglass canopies, send us a photo and measurements and we'll confirm compatibility before you order.
What warranty comes with a Rolacase Ranger canopy fitout?
Rolacase products carry a structural warranty on the powder-coated steel components and a warranty against defect on moving parts like drawer slides. Specific terms are listed on individual product pages or available through our team. The warranty applies regardless of whether you run the fitout in a Ranger, Hilux, D-Max, or any other compatible ute, since our kits are universal-fit rather than vehicle-specific.
How much does a typical Ford Ranger canopy fitout cost?
Pricing depends on the configuration. A basic 2-drawer base with single-level shelving starts in the low thousands. A full commercial-grade setup with 3 drawers, dual-level shelving, lockable cabinets, and vehicle flooring runs higher depending on specification. The most accurate way to price your specific Ranger setup is the Vehicle Configurator, which shortlists compatible kits and generates an instant quote.
